And IF you know your history, its enough to make your heart go.....

One of the FIRST contributers to our website and the longest serving is Wally Chick. It is with pleasure we are able to share some of Wally's archives.

Wally Chick joined Rovers in October 1933. The club was a mere 18 months old when the young Mr Chick joined the blues and from his memories, you will see some great images of past Rovers.50th Birthday Celebration

In those pre-war years, Rovers were formed by town workers, played on a Thursday afternoon and soon joined the Cross Russell League. This included a team from Sark who rarely visited the mainland

Wally played left wing and Rovers prior to the outbreak of WW2 won the Cross Russell Trophy 3 times. During war times, Rovers had players such as Les Collins, Vince Tostevin and Billy de la Mare but when the war was over, the GFA resumed and our "stars" left because Rovers were not allowed into the GFA. Wally and his brother Ted stayed and in 1948 were elected to Jackson leagues. In 1974 Rovers got Priaulx status.

In 1970, Port Soif became the home of the Rovers, 2 years after clearing the land owned by Jack Norman. In our first Priaulx season, Rovers beat North and Centrals.

Over the next few weeks I will update these pages with images of the past. Enjoy and if you see Wally at the club, thank him for sharing his collection of Rovers photo's. Here Wally & his Dot cut the cake on 50 years of Rovers in 1982. This year is our 75th ANNIVERSARY in local sport
