ROVERS U12 victorious in Jason Piriou Memorial Trophy

Rovers Under 12's were victorious in winning the Jason Piriou Memorial Trophy on Saturday, where they played all the other Guernsey clubs and didn't lose a game.

The 12 man squad took part in the 7 a side tournament at Footes Lane and got off to a good start by beating Sylvans 2-1, the next game was against Vale Rec where the ball just wouldn't go in the net and Vale Rec benefited from a deflection to go 1-0 up.
There was only a minute left in the game when Matt Hood came in late from Max Robin's corner and scored a screaming left foot volley to equalise and the game finished 1-1.

Bels were next and being 5-0 up at half time with the help of a hat-trick from Fin Whitmore the lads took their foot off the gas in the second half and finished with a 6-0 win.

First up after lunch was Rangers, we had a great start with some early goals, which effectively killed the game and Rangers heads dropped so we won 7-1.

North and St Martins were the last 2 league games of the afternoon, North went ahead twice but we ended up winning 4-2 and after a long day we beat St Martins 2-0.

Vale Rec also won all their other games so this meant they were on the same points as Rovers and being that goal difference didn't count in this tournament it meant the boys had to have a play off and their 7th game of the day. Vale Rec went 1-0 up but Rovers showed their superiority and with a goal from Max Robin and a hat-trick from Ambrose Netherton we won 4-1 and Rovers were crowned deserved winners.

Well done to all the squad for their hard work, to the GFA for organising the event and to the Piriou family for donating the trophy.
