About Rovers
Rovers are situated on the west coast of Guernsey in the Channel Islands and provide excellent sporting and social facilities to the local community. The club was founded in the 1930's and from a small social club, a major investment in grounds and our clubhouse, we have seen significant growth over the last 2 decades.
We have members spanning 4 generations of the same family and with the development of the facilities, the clubhouse and lots of volunteers, the future is certainly bright.
On the sporting front we continue to invest in the community and proudly
- We are the only club on the island with its own cricket facilities with both grass and artifcial having significant investment over the past few years. Our close work with the GCA will see us host major cricketing cometitions in the islands. Combine that with Electronic scoreboard, screens and net facilities, we offer great facilities to our players and those visiting our club
- Our grounds staff have worked year on year to improve our outfield. For those who remember changing in the "shed", the poor playing area, it was not the most hospital of places. We can not do anything about the West Coast winds but the pitches now are a credit to those Rovers members who put a lot a hard work in
- Each year through the dedication of our coaches and the assistance of local sponsors, our mini's and junior teams continue to show significant improvement which is a credit to the club and will hopefully provide future Senior players. Importance to us is we offer a safe environment with Qualified Coaching staff providing their time voluntarily so it is appreciated by all
- Our Archery section, The Bowmen of Guernsey represent the island and compete on the international stage and year on year they do us, themselves and the island credit.
This website provides an overview of who we are, so if you would like to contribute anything to this (pictures, match reports, history) or you would like to join the Rovers "family" or hire our facilities then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
This year our Football Section are supporting a local charity, HELP A GUERNSEY CHILD through carrying their logo on our football kits and carrying out fundraising events so please come down and give your support throught the season.
Good Luck to all our sportsmen and women during 2009 and 2010
